Woah Girl’s Frequently Asked Questions

Is the group limited to the San Diego area?

No, it’s not. We have many members that come from Riverside County as well as the Oceanside area.

Is there an age limit?

The group is intended for women 50 years of age and older. This is intentional as most of us don’t move quite as fast as younger women. Additionally, we want to be in a similar stage of live with our peers.

What activities does the group participate in?

The focus is on outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, paddleboarding but we will host other events that have us outdoors and occasionally indoors but most times, it will be an activity that requires physical participation. Now that doesn’t mean we won’t have a meal before or after, but that isn’t the focus of the event.

Is there a fee to join?

For most events, the answer is no, however, for some activities that require permits or other fees, yes. It will be shared in detail in the event prior to signing up.

Woah Girl Group Rules

1. Be kind and courteous - Our intent is to create a kind and welcoming community. Let's treat everyone with respect. Kindness is required. Controversial comments will be deleted. An example would be a reply to a Sunday hike that someone posts that someone responds they would never because Church comes first. Besides the fact it was unnecessary, how does the person commenting know that the event organizer didn't go on Saturdays. If you disagree or you're not intending to join, please don't post inflammatory comments.

2. No hate speech or bullying - Make sure everyone feels safe. Bullying of any kind isn't allowed, and degrading comments about things like race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender or identity will not be tolerated. No political comments or discussions are permitted.

3. No promotions, sales or spam permitted - Self-promotion, spam and irrelevant links aren't allowed. Any reference to commercial businesses must be pre-approved.

4. Respect everyone's privacy - Being part of this group requires mutual trust. Authentic, expressive discussions make groups great, but may also be sensitive and private. What's shared in the group should stay in the group.

5. Posts not related to hiking & forming connections - Posts not related to hiking & forming connections are prohibited. We have group Intro posts as well as other informational posts and discussion posts to focus on the group and not individuals. No posts related to job searches, rooms for rent, or cross-posting of non-hiking or other outdoor activities.

6. Sharing of other groups - Sharing of other hiking, and outdoor activities groups is not permitted. As other groups may not align with our vision and guidelines, we've updated this rule from what it originally was.

7. Know your limits - Please know your limits and ask questions. The expectation is that you are informed about your abilities and limitations when participating in an event. A host, co-host or other participants are not responsible for physically supporting you during an event except in the event of an urgency/emergency. Come prepared with the right equipment and water.

8. Event Participation is Limited to Members - To participate in an event, attendees must be members of the group and register for the event. In each event, there is a liability waiver and for everyone’s protection, we need that liability waiver acknowledged.
